6 Mindful Strategies to Help Create Your Ideal Work Life Balance.

As a working professional, you take your coffee on the go. Your day is likely filled with a whirlwind of tasks, meetings, and deadlines that can leave you feeling drained and stressed by the time you head home. The constant hustle and bustle of the workday can take a toll on your mental and physical well-being if not managed properly. You don't have to change your routine in any way, here are a few of my favorite ways to self-regulate, slow down, and vibe out in the present moment.

1. Start Your Day with Intention

Set a positive intention for the day ahead, remember your why.

For example:

  • I've always dreamed of working here

  • I love what I do

  • I'm excited to grow my skills

  • Working towards my dream home

  • Trying to buy a van

  • Trying new things

Why are you creating this life? What goals are you trying to achieve? When you can remember your why and set a mindful intention, you take power away from all the things that can be overwhelming. You see the bigger picture, you aren't dialed in on all the small stuff and you become more present. Close your eyes, and focus on your beating heart. Breathe your intention into your heart with every breath. You can always write down your intention or say it aloud as well.

2. Take Mindful Breathing Breaks

It's crucial to pause and take mindful breathing breaks. You know those deep sighs that sometimes just happen? What do you think they're trying to tell you. 5-10 deep breaths can make all the difference. Can you pay attention to your breath even when you're writing emails or in a meeting? The more control you have over your breath, the more control you have over your heart.

Close your eyes, inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and exhale slowly. This simple grounding practice can help calm your nervous system, bring you back to the present moment, and bring a sense of peace amidst chaos.

3. Move Your Body

Just move. Stretching in your chair, walking to the water cooler, or choosing to stand is movement. Take short breaks to check in with yourself throughout the day. Feeling antsy? Move. Feeling stressed? Move! These movements can help promote relaxation and improve focus all by simply guiding stagnant energy out of the body through movement of your choice.

4. Step Outside During Lunch

Instead of eating at your desk, consider stepping outside during lunch. If you do eat inside try to spend fifteen minutes outdoors, soaking in your natural surroundings and breathing in the fresh air. Going for a walk or sitting in the sun is a great way to relax your nervous system. Connecting with nature and taking a break from the office environment can help recharge your mind and body.

***Breath Check - In: Are you paying attention to your breath?? What does it feel like right now, is your heart beating fast or slow?

5. Leave Work at Work

If you are someone that consistently brings work home with them because they 'have to' or they have a 'deadline' tips 5 & 6 are for you!

As you leave the office, symbolically wash away the stressful energy by washing your hands or consider taking a soothing shower when you arrive home. Water holds deep cleansing properties that help you energetically release stress and transition back into the present moment. You can also soak your feet in Epsom salts to help increase magnesium consumption resulting in physical relaxation.

6. Reflect and Release

As your workday concludes, take a few minutes to reflect on your accomplishments and challenges. Write down any lingering thoughts or tasks in a journal to clear your mind and prepare for the next day. All of your to-do's or thoughts that may be important for the later week.

By acknowledging your achievements and letting go of any unfinished business, you can leave work feeling accomplished and ready to recharge. It's important to allow the brain to rest. If you are feeling side tracked with work thoughts, remind yourself there is nothing you can do about them today and you trust you will take care of them tomorrow.

The quality of your breath dictates the quality of your life.

Did you just take a deep breath? If not, read the above text.

It's time to prioritize your well-being and make room for positive energy and tranquility amidst the daily chaos. Remember, there is so much more you can do to help yourself slow down, these are just starting points.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, just know you are doing great. You've taken at least three deep breaths already! You are on a roll, don't stop now.

XO!
